The Plant Manager is our senior operational leader responsible for end‑to‑end performance of the manufacturing facility. This role owns safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development across all plant operations. As PSF scales, the Plant Manager is accountable not only for day‑to‑day execution but for building a repeatable, data‑driven, and continuously improving operation capable of supporting growth, margin discipline, and customer satisfaction.
This role acts as the bridge between strategy and execution—translating project demand, financial targets, and capacity plans into reliable shop‑floor outcomes.
Direct Oversight: Assembly, Machining, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving, Maintenance, and Shop Support Functions
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Delivery Ownership
Own daily, weekly, and long‑range production planning to meet committed ship dates
Balance labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracting to optimize throughput
Ensure disciplined execution of schedules, priorities, and work sequencing
Act as the escalation point for production constraints, conflicts, and trade‑offs
Maintain real‑time visibility of capacity, WIP, and bottlenecks using ERP and shop metrics
Quality, Craftsmanship & Technical Excellence
Ensure all millwork meets or exceeds contract drawings, specifications, and PSF standards
Partner with Engineering and Project Management to ensure designs are constructable
Oversee internal and outsourced quality control processes
Drive root‑cause analysis for defects, rework, and field issues
Champion craftsmanship, accountability, and first‑time‑right execution
Safety, Compliance & Facility Stewardship
Own plant‑wide safety culture, compliance, and continuous risk reduction
Lead toolbox talks, audits, investigations, and corrective actions
Ensure compliance with OHSA, WSIB, ESA, fire code, and applicable regulations
Maintain equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and facility standards
Leadership, Workforce Development & Culture
Lead and develop Supervisors, Lead Hands, and key operators
Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards
Partner with HR on hiring, onboarding, training, succession, and compensation reviews
Succession planning and leadership pipeline accountability
Build bench strength for future supervisors and managers
Foster a respectful, high‑trust, problem‑solving culture
Project & Cross‑Functional Integration
Partner with Project Managers, Engineering, Estimating, and Procurement
Participate in production and risk‑review meetings
Anticipate schedule, material, labor, or scope risks and act early
Support controlled change management for revisions and field impacts
Financial, Cost & Resource Management
Own labor efficiency, overtime control, and productivity targets
Track and improve cost performance against estimates and budgets
Support inventory accuracy, material flow, and working capital discipline
Identify and execute cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising quality
Contribute to annual planning, forecasting, and capital investment decisions
Continuous Improvement & Operational Maturity
Lead Lean / CI initiatives (5S, standard work, visual management, flow improvements)
Drive KPI discipline across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People
Standardize processes, documentation, and best practices
Evaluate automation, equipment upgrades, and layout improvements
Support digital adoption (ERP, reporting dashboards, future RFID / automation)
Develop and support KPIs (On‑Time Delivery (%), Safety Incidents / Near Misses, Rework & Defect Rate, Labor Efficiency / Earned vs Actual Hours, Overtime %, WIP Turns & Throughput Time, Employee Turnover & Internal Promotions)
Qualifications & Experience
8–12+ years in manufacturing leadership (custom, project‑based, or millwork required)
Proven experience managing multi‑department plant operations
Strong understanding of woodworking, machining, finishing, and assembly processes
Demonstrated success improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost simultaneously
Experience with ERP systems, production metrics, and capacity planning
