Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a
multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Cyber Security Engineer in Canberra for Defence Digital Group. This is a hands-on technical role, contributing to capability development, design, build, maintenance and configuration of security systems and services.
What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Design, build and implement security and network management system
Administer and maintain cyber / network security appliances (firewalls, gateways etc) infrastructure and software across both physical and virtual environments.
Provide technical support for technologies and systems.
Develop and maintain automation scripts ( e.g. Python, PowerShell, Ansible and Group Policy).
Validate security controls and practices for environments and systems
What You’ll Bring
Extensive technical experience in designing, deploying and maintaining cybersecurity systems and capabilities.
Familiarity with the Defence Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorisation framework and requirements.
Experience implementing the ISM Security Controls within Windows and Linux environments.
Working knowledge of networking, storage and virtualisation.
Experience in preparing technical and security documentation.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
