Job Description
About the Role
The Friends’ School is seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Daily Relief Teachers (Primary School) to join our Primary School teaching team on a casual basis. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant learning community while supporting continuity of learning for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Reporting to the Head of Primary School and working closely with the E–6 Coordinator, you will step into a variety of classroom settings, delivering lessons prepared by the regular classroom teacher and supporting students’ academic, social, and pastoral needs. You will play an important role in maintaining a safe, calm, and engaging learning environment that reflects the School’s Learning Principles, Purpose & Concerns, and Quaker values.
Key Focus Areas
Deliver planned lessons across K–6, ensuring continuity of learning and positive student engagement.
Promote and maintain a child-safe environment, including adherence to mandatory reporting and safeguarding obligations.
Implement teaching practices aligned with The Friends’ School Learning Principles, Learning Partnership Understanding, and Quaker ethos.
Follow School policies, guidelines, and behavioural expectations consistently.
Provide effective classroom management and pastoral care, supporting student wellbeing.
Supervise playground duties and support excursions as required.
Collaborate with colleagues where possible to maintain classroom routines and programs.
Provide clear, timely feedback and notes for the absent teacher on student progress and classroom activities.
Participate in staff meetings and contribute positively to the wider Primary School team.
Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and respectful communication with students, families, and colleagues.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Recognised teaching qualification with eligibility for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania (TRB).
Experience teaching in a primary school setting (K–6).
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt quickly to different learning environments.
Sound understanding of the Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching practices.
Ability to deliver engaging lessons and support diverse learning needs.
Commitment to pastoral care and student wellbeing.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment).
A recent National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
