About us
The Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) is an independent statutory body established under The Mental Health Act 2014 (WA). The Chief Psychiatrist is a statutory officer who holds powers and duties as prescribed by the Mental Health Act 2014. Pursuant to section 515 of the MHA 2014, the Chief Psychiatrist, is responsible for overseeing the treatment and care of all voluntary patients, involuntary patients, mentally impaired accused detained at an authorised hospital, residents of private psychiatric hostels who are active with mental health services, and all persons referred under section 26(2) or 26(3)(a) or 36(2) for examination by a psychiatrist. The Chief Psychiatrist is supported by an Office that is a public sector department and reports to Parliament through the Minister for Mental Health.
The Mental Health Commission (Commission) is the employing authority of choice for staff employed by the Chief Psychiatrist.

About the role
The Data Management and Project Officer is responsible for contributing to and coordinating the development and implementation of data monitoring systems, processes and projects relevant to the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist and under the guidance of the reporting line manager. The position is responsible for data management of statutory and other reporting requirements of the Chief Psychiatrist to monitor compliance with the Mental Health Act 2024 and standards of psychiatric care across Western Australia.
