About role
As a DBA3 Engineer, you are responsible for uptime, optimization, scaling, fine-tuning for all of our database clusters. You apply your skills in index tuning, identifying slow queries, and working with the teams in order to fix these issues. You’re also expected to participate in low level designs, schema designing for the products that we build. You’ll mentor the existing team members in order to bring in the best practices around DBMS.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Strike the right balance between the cost, uptime and performance of the database clusters.
• Manage changes that will be done to the databases ( alters & other DDLs ).
• Profile server resource utilization, optimize and tweak as necessary on a continuous basis.
• Perform analysis of slow query logs on a regular basis and come up with the recommendations, work with the developers and roll out the fixes to the production
• Participate in the schema design discussions and apply them on production.
• Evangelize some of the best practices with the developers, give internal tech talks to the developers about the best practices and also keep a check on implementation.
• Bring in newer forward looking initiatives to optimize the database performance.
• Perform POCs for some of the newer stack and then take them to production.
• Build the required dashboards (Grafana, Percona) in order to measure the current database performance, configure correct alerting mechanisms to be alerted on a proactive basis.
• Responsible for driving operational excellence for the connected services that a business offersto its customers to deliver an "always on" operation, year round, at the right cost.
• Driving root cause analysis (RCA) and risk management processes.
• Driving ongoing improvements and efficiencies in operational practices, tools & processes.

Job Requirements / Qualifications
• 6+ years in database administration with a DevOps mindset and skill to develop automation using bash scripting / python / perl scripting.
• Have solid understanding of clustering, back-up/restore technologies, replication, HA and security.
• Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL / MongoDB.
• Ability to trouble-shoot issues in real quick time.
• Understanding of linux systems, clouds and databases.
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
• Ability to effectively manage/augment capacity.
• Possess experience with at least one of the major cloud providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure,
Google Cloud
