About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator with 3+ years of hands-on experience to support our database operations. This role focuses on implementing and optimizing database management practices to ensure performance, security, and reliability of our database systems that support critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities
• Execute database maintenance and performance tuning by performing scheduled maintenance tasks, optimizing slow-running SQL queries, designing effective indexing strategies, adjusting database parameters, and conducting capacity analysis to maximize system efficiency and minimize response times.
• Implement and manage database security by configuring access controls, implementing role-based security policies, managing data encryption, and executing security audits to protect sensitive information according to organizational security standards.
• Maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions by monitoring replication status, verifying cluster health, troubleshooting synchronization issues, performing backup operations, testing recovery procedures, and implementing appropriate retention policies to ensure business continuity.
• Manage database storage and optimization by implementing efficient partitioning schemes, monitoring space utilization, reorganizing database objects, and executing data archiving procedures based on established data lifecycle policies and growth patterns.
• Resolve database incidents and performance issues by responding to alerts, diagnosing root causes, applying effective solutions, and coordinating with application teams to minimize impact on business operations and meet service level agreements.
• Establish and maintain documentation by creating standard operating procedures, recording configuration changes, developing troubleshooting guides, and maintaining up-to-date runbooks for database operations, security protocols, and recovery processes.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in database administration
• Strong expertise with major RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)
• Advanced SQL skills with demonstrated experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and execution plan analysis
• Experience implementing database security controls and high availability solutions
• Knowledge of backup strategies, recovery procedures, and storage management techniques
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
• Demonstrates high commitment, collaborative mindset, and grit when working through complex database challenges
