JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose
As a Database Administrator, you will be part of the Global Data Services team with accountability for designing, testing, implementing and maintaining the organization's databases across multiple platforms, technologies (e.g., relational, non-relational and warehousing) and computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server). The role requires the ability to apply comprehensive functional and technical knowledge in a team setting for problem resolution, design and engineering decisions and system architecture planning.
Responsibilities
Conduct database administrative work to support for production systems
Installing and upgrading database software and resolving database software problems
Updating, migrating, and refreshing database environments
Configuring monitoring and proactively reviewing statistics for errors, capacity and performance issues
Provide support for Development, QA teams and systems
Implement improvements to process and code used for automating maintenance and operational tasks in various systems using programming languages such as PL/SQL, PERL, shell, Python, etc.
Ensure database recoverability within the constraints of any application, project and other requirements
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
2+ years of experience in the design, maintenance and administration of relational databases
Experience with Core Oracle Admin, RAC, MAA, Dataguard, etc.
Experience with SQL and PL/SQL coding skill
Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment with understanding of Kernel and OS tuning
Proficient in Shell Scripting, Perl DBI/DBD or JDBC
Ability to independently complete projects with minimal guidance
Proven success in creating complete infrastructure to maintain a large server farm
Ability to work an on-call schedule, after hours and weekends as needed
Ability to learn new technology with a willingness to teach
Schedule
This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2 days per week.
