We have been retained by a global auto parts distribution company based in the USA to recruit Reporting Analyst for their software development centre in New Delhi.
Job Description:
This position has responsibility for database development and day-to-day database operations. It is convenient to break detailed duties up into three parts to address the main job functions and requirements.
General Requirements
• Studies and understands business needs
• Communicates architecture to business and management
• Participates in business development as advisor
• Understands technology limitations/features and sets expectations
• Research and development of new database software releases/migrations
• Prepares, oversees and coordinates database and application designs
• Inspects database solutions
• Acts as enterprise consultant and data/database SME
• Advises development group on project resources and estimates
• Communicates architecture to development group
• Create and enforce database development standards and processes
• Create and enforce architectural standards
• Create and enforce design standards
• Owns logical and physical data models
• Owns enterprise data dictionary
• Owns and defines metadata
• Ensure consistency across implementations
• Defines data archive/purge standards
Administrator's Functions:
• Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security
• Monitor performance and manage system parameters to provide fast query responses to users
• Find improvements and efficiencies in application database access performance, and review with code developers
• Consider both back end data organization and front end accessibility for end users
• Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
• Control access permissions and privileges
• Maintain data standards
• Develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans
• Plan for future capacity needs
• Work closely with IT project managers and web developers
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
Development Functions
• Provide development of database objects – tables, views, stored procedures, user defined functions, indexes and triggers in coordination with web code development
• Ensure database security to help prevent SQL injection attacks
• Develop new reports using SQL Server Reporting Services and design database structures to be efficiently queried
• Continually check index performance and adjust accordingly
• Advise/assist developers when direct database interaction is necessary to support application user needs
Experience: at least 4 years of SQL Server experience
