Job Description :
We are seeking a PostgreSQL DBA with 6-8 years of experience in PostgreSQL DBA with extensive experience in Database Design , Database Installation and Configuration.
Key Responsibilities :
Essential Capabilities :
- Database Installation and Configuration Install PostgreSQL and necessary extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pg_stat_statements).
- Configure key settings (e.g., postgresql.conf, pg_hba.conf) for performance, security, and access. Set up clustering or replication
- Database Design and Architecture
- Help design normalized schemas and efficient table structures. Create and manage indexes, constraints, and views.
- Optimize data types and partitioning strategies.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization
- Tune PostgreSQL configuration parameters. Analyze and optimize slow queries using EXPLAIN/ANALYZE.
- Monitor and optimize autovacuum processes and analyze query performance.
Backup and Recovery :
- Implement automated backup strategies. Plan and test recovery strategies.
- Ensure backups are stored securely and regularly tested.
- Monitoring and Maintenance
- Monitor system performance (CPU, disk I/O, memory, long queries). Manage bloat with regular vacuuming.
- Patch Management and Upgrades
- Apply PostgreSQL patches and minor version upgrades.
- Plan and execute major version upgrades. Logical replication for zero-downtime upgrades
Good to Have :
- Basic Knowledge of Cloud Architecture, Snowflakes, Python
- Development/Modification of Major Database Components
- Data Transformation Using SSIS
