The Deli Utility Clerk is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to all Company policies, procedures and standards. The Deli Clerk position reports directly to the Deli Supervisor/Deli Manager, and the main responsibilities include;

Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
Performs all aspects of the Deli Utility function including but not limited to; stocking displays and facing in an efficient and organized manner. Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns. Provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes.
Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department is maintained. Responsible for ensuring the sales floor and back stock area are clean of cardboard and debris, including disposal of garbage.
Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools; and reports repair requirements to the Deli Supervisor, Manager or Duty Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
In stores, which have liquor licenses, adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
Prepares deli platters and trays, operates roasters and in locations with a deli till, performs all aspects of cash handling procedures of the till.
In locations with a Bistro, assists with customer service and/or food preparation when required.
