Design Intern – Additive ManufacturingAbout the Role
We are looking for a Design Intern with a strong interest in additive manufacturing and product design to join our team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to 3D design, design for additive manufacturing (DfAM), and real-world engineering applications across industrial and prototyping projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in creating and modifying 3D CAD models for additive manufacturing
• Support design optimization for 3D printing processes (FDM, SLA, SLS, etc.)
• Prepare models for printing, including orientation, supports, and tolerances
• Work with engineers to improve designs for strength, weight, and manufacturability
• Assist in prototyping, testing, and design validation
• Create basic technical drawings and documentation
• Stay updated with trends and innovations in additive manufacturing technologies
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or related fields
• Basic knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, or similar)
• Understanding of 3D printing concepts and materials
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Willingness to learn and experiment with new design approaches
Preferred (Nice to Have)
• Exposure to Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM)
• Experience with 3D printers and slicing software
• Knowledge of materials, tolerances, and mechanical behavior
• Portfolio or sample design work (academic or personal projects)
