The Position


DevOps is about moving an organization forward and giving it a technological advantage. We view it as a way to think—a state of mind—and we’re looking for an experienced professional to lead and manage DevOps at VertiGIS.


You'll be leading the global DevOps team in a variety of projects covering areas such as security compliance, infrastructure design and automation, and Azure infrastructure governance and administration. You’ll search for ways to meet our various security compliance requirements as well as shortening our development cycles and increasing the quality of our product releases.

Responsibilities


Team Leadership

Lead and mentor DevOps team members.
Define global DevOps strategy.
Unify DevOps practices across the organization.
Coordinate DevOps efforts globally.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth and secure deployment of applications, optimizing software delivery and deployment strategies.
Provide training and support to team members on tools and methodologies.
Represent DevOps interests to management.
Security Compliance

Lead SOC 2 compliance initiatives across R&D and represent R&D during SOC 2 audits.
Ensure SOC 2 security best practices and controls are integrated into our various processes and infrastructure.
Oversee vulnerability scans, penetration tests, WAF controls, and static code analysis checks.
Infrastructure Design and Automation

Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration in the Azure cloud environment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Modernize legacy cloud infrastructure and perform cloud migrations.
Design cloud infrastructure for new products.
Azure Cloud Infrastructure Governance

Orchestrate, operationalize, and govern cloud infrastructure, including management of cloud costs.
Azure DevOps Administration

Maintain and administer Azure DevOps repositories, branches, and version control systems, including permission and policy management.
Documentation

Document DevOps processes, procedures, and configurations clearly and comprehensively.
System Monitoring and Management

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
On-premises infrastructure maintenance

Maintenance and modernization of development infrastructure such as web servers and build agents.
CI/CD Pipeline Management

Design, implement, and manage Azure DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.

Skills Required:


Prior experience:
5+ years of DevOps related experience.
Preference for team leadership and mentorship experience.
Adaptability: A demonstrable ability to quickly learn and master new technologies, and to adapt quickly to an ever-changing technology landscape.
Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both development teams and management.
Azure Cloud Services: Familiarity with various Azure services, including: compute, storage, app services, networking, and databases.
Security: Understanding of security best practices and how to implement them in a cloud environment. Bonus points for SOC 2 and/or ISO27001 audit experience using Vanta.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with IaC tools and methodologies, with preference for Bicep.
Azure DevOps: Proficiency in the Azure DevOps ecosystem, including Azure Pipelines and related tools.
Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor and PRTG to track system health and performance.
CI/CD: Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and practices.
Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, Python and JavaScript/TypeScript for automating tasks.
