We are seeking a highly organised professional with diary and stakeholder expertise
Temporary, full-time Grade Clerk 7/8 ($113,574 - $125,720 per annum) opportunity up to 15 August 2027, based in Sydney CBD
About the Role
You will join our Secretariat team within the Government House branch in the Corporate Services group.
As Diary Secretary, you will manage the official Vice Regal diary of engagements for the Governor and spouse, coordinating a complex schedule across government, corporate and community sectors. You will engage with senior officeholders and their teams to assess requests, negotiate priorities, and ensure the effective allocation of time and resources.
You will maintain the integrity and accuracy of the official diary system, oversee reporting and data analysis relating to engagements, and contribute to ongoing system improvements.
The role also provides back-up support for Executive Council processes, Royal Assent administration and other constitutional matters, and supports the Secretariat team during peak periods to ensure seamless operations.

Government House Sydney, the residence and the seat of administration of the Governor of New South Wales – the oldest statutory office in Australia - is staffed by employees of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet. The team at Government House Sydney supports the Governor in the conduct of constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.

We're Looking For
Executive Support & Administration: Proven experience providing high-level executive and administrative support in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, including electronic diary and correspondence management
Stakeholder Engagement: Strong understanding of the role of the Governor and the operations of Government House Sydney, with knowledge of government and political processes; skilled in liaising with senior officeholders, technical service providers, and external partners
Prioritisation & Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, anticipate issues, and provide practical solutions under pressure, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and high-quality outcomes
Communication Skills: Highly effective written and verbal communication, including preparing invitations, supporting agenda items and minutes, and other executive-level administrative tasks
Flexibility & Professionalism: Responsive and adaptable, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required, maintaining discretion and professionalism in sensitive contexts
