Job Summary of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:
Penske Truck Leasing aims to recruit an experienced Technician to provide preventive maintenance and repair services for diverse vehicles in the fleet. The role requires proficiency in both major and minor vehicle repairs, performing road tests for issue identification, and ensuring the fleet's safety and reliability standards are consistently met. As a Technician, you will lead by example, offer mentorship to other technicians, and have opportunities for career advancement while working within a state-of-the-art facility.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:
• Perform independent and effective preventative maintenance on truck and trailer equipment.
• Handle maintenance tasks and resolve problems concerning major parts such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.
• Upgrading parts like turbochargers, fuel system components, and integrated assemblies.
• Promote a clean and safe working environment for all employees.
• Engage with Penske's tools and technology to facilitate diagnostics, research, and repair activities.
• Enroll in continuous learning opportunities to advance in technical competencies.
• Carry out supplementary tasks and initiatives as delegated by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience of Diesel Fleet Mechanic:
• A track record of over six years in the practical maintenance of trucks and tractor-trailers.
• Candidates must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and it is preferred that they hold vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair.
• Specialized learning in the identification and resolution of vital vehicle parts, alongside holding ASE Certification and a preference for 608/60+ certifications.
• Experience using diagnostic machinery, welding equipment, and hand-operated or mechanical tools.
• Possessing a valid driver's license is required for this position, and holding a CDL is preferred.
• Capable of independently tackling challenges and finding innovative solutions.
• Demonstrates exceptional communication proficiency and customer-focused service capabilities.
• Skillful in collaborating with others and performing well in non-ideal working environments.
• Foundational understanding of computer functions and a commitment to safety and maintenance procedures are vital.
