Job Description
The office of the Hon Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science, is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Digital Media Adviser, based in either Canberra or Sydney’s Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices.
The key objective of the role is to develop, advise and contribute to digital content for the Minister’s social media and online presence.
Ensuring whole-of-Government content alignment, you’ll create and deliver content that drives audience reach and engagement while providing quality advice and support across strategic issues and communications.
The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:
Develop engaging, accurate and relevant content for the Minister’s digital media presence that highlights the priorities and achievements of the Government.
Contribute to the office and the Government’s digital strategy, including proactively identifying innovative opportunities for improvement and developing and implementing social media outreach strategies.
Plan, shoot, and edit photos and videos for the Minister’s social media and online presence.
Provide advice and support to a range of internal and external stakeholders on innovative digital approaches and communications within a fast-paced and sensitive environment.
Lead evaluation of digital communication and engagement methods, including analysing qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends and drive engagement and reach.
Provide input into communications and provide clear, succinct advice as required.
Regular travel is a key element of this role.

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively inspire, persuade, and engage with various audiences, as well as translate complex information into simple language.
Familiarity with social media capabilities, communication principles and digital tools for content production, platform management and analytics.
Ability to engage with qualitative and quantitative data and undertake research and evaluation activities, adapting strategies and outputs as required.
Strong project management skills and an ability to work autonomously to a deadline.
Strong ability to collaborate and foster productive and trusted working relationships with stakeholders.
An understanding of the political landscape, as well as demonstrated high level professional integrity, discretion, and judgement, including the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
