Primary Purpose
The Director will lead the Computer Engineering department, reporting to the Dean, School of Engineering and Technology. S/he will provide strategic direction, academic planning leadership and administrative oversight to achieve the highest standards in the computer engineering department. S/he will promote innovative approaches to program and professional training development and delivery, increase research output and funding support, and facilitate partnerships with other faculties.
S/he will ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness, expand the faculty’s industry research chairs and large-scale interdisciplinary research programs, and work collaboratively with academic, industry and public sector partners to further enhance its national and international stature.
Key Responsibilities
Stimulate and support excellence and integrity in teaching, learning, research and University service, and foster a climate that encourages faculty, staff and students to identify and pursue innovation in these activities.
Lead the academic planning process of the faculty by initiating discussions, defining priorities, and developing and articulating its vision.
Oversee academic program planning and development, curriculum administration and revision, and new program development and implementation.
Establish procedures, initiatives, and programs that reflect a commitment to inclusive excellence among faculty students and staff.
Collaborate with Department Chairs to recruit, hire, and retain faculty consistent with the strategic and fiscal needs of the school.
Effectively guide the utilization of resources and direct the budgets that support the academic programming in the discipline.
Implement various interdisciplinary programs, create new models for how academia and industry can work together to accelerate the pace of research.
General supervision and control over the affairs of the department; leadership, management and development of the school and the realization of its stated mission.
Develop the plans for the growth of the department, consistent with the vision, mission & goals of the university.
Initiate and oversee activities designed to improve teaching skills within the faculty and ensure that teaching methods are state-of-the-art.
Provide strategic leadership in the development of research activity to capitalize upon the expertise, interests and resources of the faculty and to ensure alignment with the University’s research strategy.
Continue to seek opportunities to develop and continue interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives.
Ensure effective communication and engagement with students, faculty and staff members.
Develop, manage and ensure effective administration and accountability of the faculty’s budget and resources and support, regularly assess and ensure effective faculty governance.
Ensure appropriate and efficient organization and assignment of staff responsibilities, effective management, commitment to staff development and administration of collective agreements and personnel policies.
Ensure recruitment and appointment processes are undertaken with the aim of attracting the highest possible calibre of faculty and staff and that the process itself is reflective of equity, diversity and University policy.
Qualification & Experience
B.Tech / M.Tech in subject from the Top Tier, reputed university.
PhD or post-doctoral research from Top 200 universities. PhD is Mandatory
Highly accomplished academician from a university of repute in India/Globally.
15+ years of experience with strong command on subject knowledge of Computer Engineering.
Have ability to stay abreast with the latest trends and development in the subject area.
Proven experience of excellent delivery of the subject for the students and achieve the best results/awards/positions in the university.
Experience of quality research, good academic record and books/research paper publications/IPR/patents record.
