As Director Financial Control, you will lead several core finance functions, including Finance Operations, Assets and Inventory, Financial Accounting, and Tax. Your leadership will shape the financial control environment for the entire organisation, ensuring we remain financially sustainable and compliant as we continue to deliver one of the largest housing and community development programmes in New Zealand.

This is a highly influential role where you will provide strategic operational financial advice to the Chief Executive, the Chief Financial Officer, the Board, and senior leaders. You will oversee financial practices, champion strong financial controls, and help guide the production of our annual report.

With four direct reports and a wider team of ~70, this is a significant leadership opportunity with real national impact.

Key responsibilities include:
Lead and develop high performing teams across multiple finance disciplines
Provide trusted financial advice to senior leadership, including the CE and Board
Maintain a strong, future focused financial control environment
Ensure compliance with all legislative and accounting standards
Oversee year-end reporting, audit relationships, and financial policy advice
Manage accounting for K inga Oras substantial asset base
Provide proactive tax management and oversight
Identify and manage financial risks
Represent K inga Ora in ministerial and sector forums
Support organisational decision-making and empower financial capability across the organisation

You will be an experienced and strategic finance leader who brings:
CA or CPA (preferred), or equivalent professional qualification
Extensive experience leading complex financial functions in large organisations
Expertise in financial planning, analysis, costing, budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
Strong commercial acumen, ideally in capital-intensive environments
Experience managing audits and working with external auditors
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clarity
Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
A continuous improvement mindset and strong analytical capability
Experience with Oracle Financial Applications and Hyperion (preferred)
