Job Description
This is a high-impact, remote-based role focused on managing existing accounts while driving new business growth.
As the Director of Business Development, you will report directly to the executive team and play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s market presence while ensuring exceptional service delivery to current clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Management: Maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and expansion of services.
New Business Development: The ability to leverage your existing network and book of business to acquire new clients across various industries.
Operational Insight: Collaborating closely with operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, efficient, and aligned with client needs.
Strategic Sales: Conducting consultative sales conversations to understand client logistics challenges and design tailored 3PL solutions.
Pipeline Management: Building and managing a robust sales pipeline, tracking activities, and providing accurate forecasts using a CRM.
Client Engagement: Initiating and leading client meetings, calls, and presentations to promote the company’s value proposition.
Market Intelligence: Monitoring industry trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and inform strategic direction.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in logistics sales and business development.
Proven ability to manage and grow a book of business in the logistics or transportation sector.
Strong understanding of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a long-term vision for growth.
Comfortable with outbound outreach and proactive client engagement.
Experience with CRM systems is preferred.
Must be based in Ottawa or the Greater Toronto Area and open to occasional travel as needed.
