A global leading company in technology development for the energy and infrastructure sector is seeking a self-driven Director of Human Resources - APAC to lead HR initiatives across the region. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping HR policies, fostering a positive work culture, and ensuring alignment with the unique cultural dynamics of the APAC region. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of local nuances, a passion for employee well-being, and a commitment to driving excellence in HR practices. While this role covers the APAC region, the primary focus will be managing the team in India, with oversight of a few team members in other APAC countries.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Strategic Leadership in Talent Management:
• Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to attract high-calibre professionals while promoting diversity and inclusion.
• Lead leadership development, succession planning, and continuous learning programs supporting employee growth and career development.
• Own the recruitment process, from sourcing and selection to onboarding, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Recruitment Strategy and Ownership:
• Drive the full recruitment life cycle, from strategy and execution to onboarding.
• Leverage employer branding strategies to attract top talent and position the company as an employer of choice.
• Utilise recruitment metrics and analytics to refine and optimise hiring processes.
• HR Policy Development and Implementation:
• Design and implement HR policies tailored to the diverse legal, cultural, and social contexts of India and its global collaboration.
• Ensure policies are aligned with both global standards and local regulatory requirements, promoting consistency while respecting regional differences.
• Building and Maintaining a Healthy Work Culture:
• Lead initiatives fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative work environment across teams.
• Implement employee engagement programs that resonate with a diverse workforce, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, well-being, and productivity.
• Drive diversity and inclusion programs that create an equitable workplace for all employees.
• Employee Engagement and Well-being:
• Own the design and implementation of employee engagement programs that drive satisfaction, retention, and performance.
• Regularly conduct employee feedback surveys to track engagement and identify areas for improvement.
• Lead wellness and recognition initiatives tailored to diverse employee needs and preferences.
• Learning and Development:
• Create robust learning and development programs that upskill and reskill employees to meet business challenges.
• Implement tailored leadership development plans and succession planning to build a strong internal talent pipeline.
• Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution:
• Serve as a trusted advisor for employees and leadership, promoting transparent communication and swift conflict resolution.
• Lead initiatives to build trust, promote open dialogue, and maintain positive employee relations in a multicultural environment.
• Cultural Sensitivity and Regional Expertise:
• Deeply understand the unique cultures and traditions in the Indian context and incorporate this knowledge into HR strategies.
• Promote practices that honour local customs while maintaining a cohesive company culture aligned with global values.
• Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure full compliance with local employment laws and labour regulations while aligning with global HR policies.
• Monitor HR-related risks and proactively implement solutions to mitigate potential issues.
• Change Management and Organisational Development:
• Lead change initiatives across the region, ensuring smooth transitions during times of organisational change, such as restructuring or mergers.
• Develop and implement communication strategies aligning employees with the company’s vision and adapting to local expectations.
• Leadership and Team Management:
• Lead and inspire a regional HR team, fostering collaboration and shared learning across countries.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to local HR leaders, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA is preferred. Certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CIPD, or NIPM/ISTD are a plus.
• Experience working in start-up or high growth environment
• 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a multinational context, managing a diverse regional workforce and aligning local HR practices with global expectations.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing HR policies, recruitment strategies, and employee engagement programs in a multinational environment.
• Strong cultural awareness with the ability to foster inclusion while respecting diverse traditions and practices.
• Excellent leadership skills, with a resourceful, humble, and people-centric approach to problem-solving, and the ability to mentor and guide a regional HR team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation, including influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders.
• Experience leveraging HR data analytics and HR technology platforms to drive strategic decision-making and enhance recruitment, engagement, and retention efforts.
