The Projects Management branch is responsible for the successful and timely delivery of complex and high priority capital projects from project inception through contract closeout. This branch is responsible for the coordination/scheduling, administration, oversight and project management of the department’s capital program including the delivery of engineering design, construction management, right-of-way and financial management. Projects Management branch works in collaboration with branches and regions in Infrastructure Capital Projects; Engineering and Technical Services; and Transportation and Operations Divisions.

Must be able to travel several times a year which may require overnight stays
Qualifications:
Essential:
Post-secondary degree in an applicable discipline (e.g. architecture, engineering, business, etc.) with related experience in a leadership capacity. A suitable combination of education, training and management experience may be considered.
Proven experience leading project management teams at a senior level to deliver multi-disciplinary projects, with strong knowledge of project, program and portfolio management methodologies.
Experience with contract administration, cost/cash-flow management, monitoring and control of project variables.
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, direction in planning, organizing and managing construction project activities and empowering teams to work together towards achieving a common goal.
Proven ability as a leader with a commitment to create, support and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and to develop for the future.
Management experience with responsibility for human and financial resources.
Experience translating strategic priorities into clear operational and business plans, and experience with strategic performance management and measurement systems (e.g. Key Performance Indicators, Balanced Scorecards, Project Dashboards).
Very strong verbal and written communication skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.
Desired:
Accreditation in Project Management (PMP certification) is preferred for this position.
Experience building relationships with Indigenous people and implementing the principles of reconciliation.
Duties:
As a member of the department’s management team, the Director is responsible to lead and manage the Projects Managements branch overseeing the planning, execution and delivery of projects. The Director leads a team of project management professionals and provides strategic oversight and direction for a portfolio of infrastructure capital projects, ensuring projects are delivered as per the defined project scope, on schedule and within budget. The Director monitors projects and portfolios to ensure compliance with project standards, and reports to senior leadership on progress and performance of the project portfolio.
