Job Description
Support Worker – Home Organisation & Independence Building
Location: Box Hill, VIC
Work Type: Part-time / Casual
About the Role
I am seeking a supportive, proactive, and trauma-informed support worker to assist me in my home near Box Hill. This is not a traditional cleaning role where you work alone; instead, we will be working alongside each other to organise and maintain my apartment.
The goal of these shifts is twofold:
Gain Independence: Developing systems and routines that work for me.
Environmental Clarity: Clearing physical clutter to help maintain a calm, functional headspace.
The Ideal Candidate
I am looking for someone who is patient, an excellent communicator, and comfortable working in a messy environment without judgment. You should be able to take initiative while acting as a collaborative partner in the process.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous practical experience supporting individuals with ASD, ADHD, GAD, or Depression.
Approach: Must be trauma-informed and understand how mental health and neurodiversity impact daily functioning.
Qualifications: Preferably holds a Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, or a related field.
Skills: Strong organisational skills and the ability to help create order in a lived-in environment.
Location: Lives close-ish to the Box Hill area.
Schedule & Availability
Friday (Non-negotiable): This is the primary day I require support.
Additional Day: Preferably Tuesday or Wednesday.
Flexibility: Ideally, you are someone who—if I am feeling particularly overwhelmed—might have the capacity to come in on short notice (e.g., the following day) to help me reset.
How to Apply
To ensure we are a good fit, please provide a brief cover letter answering the following questions:
What practical experience have you had with someone with ASD, GAD, depression, or ADHD?
What specific tasks or areas have you helped people with in the past?
What made you want to be a support worker, and what do you enjoy most about the job?
What does your current weekly schedule look like?
How many clients do you currently support?
Are you comfortable working in a messy environment and helping to declutter it?
Do you have the capacity to provide support on short notice if needed?
What is your expected hourly rate?
Job Types: Permanent, Casual
Pay: $40.00 – $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: * – 12 per week
