What you’ll be doing...
As a Distinguished Architect for Public Sector (SLED), you’ll be responsible for driving sales opportunities forward as a technical advisor to a core solution area and able to influence decision makers. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in presales, customer interaction, technical knowledge, architectural design and be able to perform in large organization. Ideally the candidate will have experience with the end-to-end Solution Design and Delivery thereby understanding the lifecycle of a deal and able to connect with customers at many levels in the business.
Serve a segment solution & strategy specialist (CTO for SLED)
Identifying, proposing, deploying, and supporting strategies and solutions
Driving partner strategy
Project & program solution lead for the SLED segment
Serving as a subject matter expert, teaching and training internal teams
Providing guidance on RFI/RFP/RFQ responses
Managing solution lifecycle and field support, from pilot to commercial adoption
Executive Presentation Skills & Presence
Broad understanding of technology and solutions
Capability to have business conversations and link them to a customer’s objectives
Possesses strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concerns within a team setting
Effectively adjusts communication style to suit diverse audiences, including senior management
Presales
Comfortable assisting with multiple complex customer engagements at the same time
Influential sales conversations – provide Customer outcomes perspective
Executive IT long term strategy identification and able to align Verizon value
Able to influence product teams to resolve technology gaps to help win an opportunity
Act as final arbiter of solution elements, and technical editor of proposal narratives.
Customer Interaction
Possesses strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concerns within a team setting
Demonstrates technical writing proficiency to support the creation of technical documentation
Effectively adjusts communication style to suit diverse audiences, including senior management
Documents issues and concerns comprehensively and in a timely manner to drive customer satisfaction
Perceived as industry influencer and can connect with many personality types
Comfortable speaking to C-level, middle management and line technologist as well as regularly presents at conferences/EBC/workshops to promote Verizon’s value;
Experience architecting across multiple verticals and comfortable ideating common customer challenges in those verticals and synergies between verticals
Technical Skills & Certifications
Extensive experience in Solution Design and Delivery of Telecommunications solution across various technology solutions and domains
Avid learner of technology in multiple disciplines with deep focus in networking and voice while having strong skills in multiple technology disciplines such as security, cloud, development, virtualization, and data center design
Motivated to learn all aspects of a technology with hands-on learning, reading technical documents and strong contribution to industry community sites
Good Generalist of non-core-competency technology and some programming experience e.g. programming + database design + virtual infrastructures
Architecture Skills
Creates complex architectures/designs that require a subject matter expert in individual area of technical expertise
Leads design and architectural discussions with client and peer technologists
Mentors, authors and approves highly complex Statements of Work and Business Value Models
Provides expert level technology specific architecture combining technical drawings, engagement definitions, operational instruction, and interoperability with other components
Discover, initiate and lead developing new concepts and incubating new products as partner with product marketing.
What we’re looking for...
The SLED Dist. Architect fills the role of trusted technical adviser for Public Sector Solution Architecture Sr Director, SLED clients and opportunities. A technical lead on complex sales involving solution design elements and act as the design authority for internal and external stakeholders by putting together multi-tower solutions and creating supporting design artifacts.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A degree.
A degree in IT, information systems, or engineering.
Experience in complex multi-tower solutions delivery. Ideally, involving IoT, M2M, cloud, security, professional services, or SaaS.
Financial management skills needed for forecasting, pricing, and margin analysis.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $141,000.00 - $270,000.00.
The annual salary range for the Colorado location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $155,000.00 - $270,000.00.
The annual salary range for the Illinois location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $155,000.00 - $270,000.00.
