Drafting Technologist provides engineering designs, drawings, and related technical information for ITB’s units.

LOCATION

Our Coaldale, AB plant is located just off highway 3 and is an easy commute from Lethbridge or Taber. We currently have over 140 employees and are continuing to expand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Drafting:

· Create production and proposal drawing packages from written sales orders, transportation legislation, and customer specifications in accordance with corporate standards

· Verify chassis dimensions for all designs to ensure accuracy and implement corrections when necessary

· Operate Autodesk Inventor and other software programs

· AutoCAD, LoadXpert, Vault Basic, Microsoft Office, Nastran In-CAD (FEA software)

· Create accurate and detailed LoadXpert weight studies

· Follow all design standards and procedures that are set in place

· Consistently provide accurate and thorough drawings independently

· Verify all information pertaining to critical components of each design

· Record and document any changes to designs during the production process.

· ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) documentation, implementation, and maintenance

Production Department:

· Consistently update and maintain shop drawings during the production process

· Provide an accurate as-built set of drawings at the time of build completion

· Answer any questions from production staff pertaining to the design

Purchasing Department:

· Provide accurate and thorough Bill of Materials (BOM)

· Provide any extra research information, if necessary

· Review of all drawing parts lists and BOMs (Part #, size, description)

· Answer any questions from purchasing staff pertaining to the design

Sales Department:

· Provide detailed proposal drawings

· Provide visual and technical support for each project

· Provide detailed weight studies

· Review sales orders and provide feedback to sales team to minimize discrepancies between sales orders and production drawings

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

· 5 years of experience in a professional setting is preferred

· Enhanced knowledge using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and MS Office suites

· Experience in manufacturing or construction design required

· Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) preferred, but not required

Education:

· Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent

· Autodesk Certification preferred, but not necessary

WORKING HOURS

· Permanent Full-Time

· Core hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 am – 4:30 p.m.

· Optional Over-Time Hours Available

Pay: $24.00-$43.00 per hour
