Job Description
One job - two venues. Yes you heard right, in this role you ave the opportunity to work across two different venues in the Octagon; the hospitality hub of Dunedin.
Dunedin Social Club: One of Dunedin's busiest bars, craft beer heaven, only local brews on tap, epic banter, and good vibes from after-work beers to late-night laughs.
Velvet Burger Octagon: New menu, gourmet burgers, cold beers, and an experience people talk about. Serving lunch, dinner, and late-night feeds right in the city’s heartbeat.
We’re looking for someone who can light up the room, inspire a team, and deliver an unforgettable experience for every customer.
If you’ve hit the ceiling in your current role or want a change with serious career progression, this is it. We’ll give you the tools, training, and support to run a thriving hospitality business – and fast-track you to where you want to be.
Full-time:
25–40 hours per week
4 to 5 days a week depending on preference
Working Wed -> Sat nights, have Sun - Tuesday off (4 days on, 3 days off)
Pay: $30 – $36 per hour (depending on experience) + clear pathways to move up quickly
What You’ll Do
Keep the vibe high and the venue running smoothly
Lead, motivate, and coach your crew so they’re always on top of their game
Make sure our food, drinks, and service blow expectations out of the water
Own the daily and weekly operations – stock, ordering, budgeting, and more
Keep our spaces spotless, welcoming, and on-brand
Connect with customers, get feedback, and make their day
Recruit, train, and inspire a team that loves working here as much as you do
What We’re Looking For
You’ve led a small team before
You’re great with people and can explain things clearly
You bring positive vibes, energy, and know how to lead
LCQ or a Manager’s Certificate is a big plus - but if you don’t have one yet, we can help the right person get certified
You’re keen on building a long-term career in hospitality
Why You’ll Love It Here
Industry-leading training – we invest in your success
Staff discounts at all our venues
Supportive, encouraging team with plenty of laughs along the way
