Job Description
Duties
Develop and implement program activities based on Kittens’ Mittens Child Care Gateway Curriculum with other educators and mentors to promote the child’s unique physical, cognitive, emotional and social development
Develop schedules and routines in accordance with the daily habits and necessities of children in the classroom
Individualize the curriculum as required, ensuring that all activities are accessible
Monitor, guide and engage children during learning and play times (indoor and outdoor), meal times, proper hygiene care, and nap/rest times to maintain a secure and safe environment
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress and/or behavioural and learning difficulties children may present with parents and other staff members
Assist other Early Child Care Educators in keeping records
Maintain child care equipment and assist with housekeeping
Maintain a physical environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
Help in preparing and serving snacks and lunch, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
Order supplies and equipment for the classroom
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Prior experience working with infants and toddlers in child care settings
Certification in first aid and CPR required
Strong classroom management skills combined with patience and positive behaviour management techniques
Demonstrated ability to engage children through nurturing caregiving and educational activities
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with families and team members
Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all children
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $16.00-$19.00 per hour
