Are you an experienced Estimator with a strong understanding of the high-voltage industry? Ventia is seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Wellington to develop and deliver contract proposals and tenders for Transpower and other major clients. This is a varied and rewarding role offering exposure to renewables and major generation projects across New Zealand.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role combines estimating, writing, and communication in equal measure. You’ll be responsible for preparing accurate tenders, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with Ventia’s standards.
It’s a varied position that requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.
Primary Responsibilities
Tender Preparation: Plan and manage tender bids, maintain files, ensure compliance, liaise with suppliers/subcontractors, and support project handovers.
Analysis & Documentation: Interpret scopes, drawings, and commercial terms; develop assumptions, clarifications, and high-quality documentation.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships, incorporate client KPIs, and communicate effectively across all levels.
Quality & Risk Management: Audit proposals, identify risks, and ensure adherence to standards.
Teamwork & Safety: Contribute to a positive team culture, share knowledge, and uphold HSEQ requirements.
Technology: Proficient in MS Word, Excel (advanced preferred), Outlook, and MS Project.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for someone with strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills—especially the ability to work with field staff to gather accurate information. You’ll need proven experience in high-voltage projects and the ability to interpret complex drawings and contractual requirements.
Core Requirements
NZ-based experience in high-voltage systems (above 33kV).
Experience in HV substation and line construction tender preparation.
Ability to communicate effectively with field staff and stakeholders.
Skilled at interpreting plans, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Trade-based electrical qualification (minimum).
NZ Registration (Electrician or Inspector).
Valid NZ Class 1 driver’s license.
