Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. SCA conducts pre-employment and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card is also required.
Elementary Teacher includes grades K through 5. This position may include teaching a combination of grade level appropriate subjects: Bible, Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, and History. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding of subject matter with a biblical perspective. Beyond preparing lessons and grading assignments, this applicant will also take on routine responsibilities common to all SCA teaching staff. Our teachers are responsible for fulfilling the mission of Scottsdale Christian by equipping minds through engaging, innovative instruction and nurturing hearts by mentoring young people as a spiritual leader and role model. This teacher will report directly to the Elementary Principal.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:
• Education & Certification
• Bachelor?s Degree in Elementary Education or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master?s Degree preferred.
• State teaching certification and ACSI certification preferred.
• Experience:
• Training in Elementary Education and best practices in teaching is required.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Skills:
• Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods.
• Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
• Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of FACTS a plus.
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Display a deep knowledge of English Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, and History and the application to our lives.
• Display the ability to connect Biblical truth to elementary school students.
• Teach Elementary content and Bible classes utilizing the latest research and best practices.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and AEP plans.
• Display a deep understanding of informal and formal assessments and the ability to design assessments that guide instruction towards student mastery of skills.
• Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and adjust teaching strategies to improve student outcomes.
• Promote student engagement to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.
• Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Administrator/Principal.
• Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
• Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
• Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom as well as instruction while monitoring and managing students? behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment consistent with school policies and health/safety regulations.
• Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement cross-curricular lessons and school-wide initiatives.
• Attend staff meetings, faculty trainings, and school-wide events as scheduled by the Administrator/Principal.
• Fulfill the professional development requirements provided by SCA to maintain Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) certification.
