School-Age Teacher: Grades 1-6
South-East Asia Center (SEAC) is a vibrant full-service not-for-profit community organization well-known for its high-quality social service, senior services, and education. Since its founding in 1979, SEAC has maintained a high level of idealism, friendliness, warmth, and integration with the community.
We are growing our Bridge International School that serves children ages infant through 6th grade in a diverse Chicago northside lakefront community location. With a largely immigrant population, our vanguard approach to education is focused on Cross-Cultural Learning designed to be of benefit to those with Euro-centric and non-Euro-centric family traditions.
We have immediate full-time and part-time teaching positions available at various levels. If you have completed course work related to Early Childhood Education (ECE) or experience working with children through 12 years of age. Tell us about yourself. EEO. Qualifications for K-6 Teacher: Education BA preferred or 60 Semester Hours with minimum 6 Hours ECE course work or requisite experience. Must be willing and able to work with 5 to 12-year-olds (as needed) and in a multi-level classrooms with mixed ages. Ability to write and follow a lesson plan, ability to manage a classroom with up to 20 children with or without aides or a classroom of up to 30 with at least one aide, or to work as a co-teacher as needed.
Must have or be willing to obtain Gateways ECE training as needed. At least Level 1 but Level 5 is a plus.
All of our teaching positions require a high level of reliability and ability to work during public school vacations (other than seven major holidays). Must be willing to read, digest, implement and adhere to DFSS, ISBE, DCFS, ExceleRate Illinois, and SEAC standards.
Competitive compensation $21 to $25 / hour, paid holidays/sick/personal/vacation days, health insurance, $200/month bonus, professional development opportunities, multicultural environment, and free parking or CTA accessible locations.
