Description:
The Supervisor performs a leadership role in the EMS Division and reports directly to the EMS Manager. This position is responsible and accountable for providing daily direction, leadership and organization over the activities of EMS in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The Supervisor of EMS will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders including other health professionals, first responders, fire rescue, and police agencies. The Supervisor is also responsible for Daily operational field management of pre-hospital care, patient transport services and special operations. Planning, allocating and managing physical, human and fiscal resources and assessing resource requirements to meet the greatest needs in service delivery. Promoting innovative practice and quality improvement to enhance service provision consistent with regional and provincial objectives. Safety performance of the staff and the development and implementation of mitigation strategies related to the work related to lost time events. Communication with staff related to corporate, departmental and branch operations, ensuring staff have the information to safely and effectively perform required tasks. Performance management/evaluation, ensuring performance is consistent with established standards, medical protocols, policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care and service delivery. Provides input in a consultative manner when requested to do so. Is the significant vector in the communication of strategic plans due to the communication responsibility of the position. Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Paramedic program recognized by the Alberta College of Paramedics. Currently registered in good standing or ability to register with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Minimum of three (3) years experience in an Emergency Service role with a minimum of two (2) years progressive leadership experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Valid Alberta Class 4 Operators License with no more than 6 demerits. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in healthcare administration, business, or leadership. Demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and client-focused orientation. Ability to foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals ideally within a unionized environment.
