Job Description
The Engineering EHV Layout & Equipment Specialist plays a key role in supporting high-value transformer, reactor, and substation projects, from initial planning through to commissioning.
This position ensures technical accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards across both capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) projects, focusing on technical documentation, vendor coordination, and adherence to industry guidelines.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Engineering EHV Layout & Equipment Specialist Technical Documentation and Specifications: Assist in the preparation and finalization of all technical specifications, bid documents, and design documents for transformers, reactors, and substation equipment.
Develop detailed concept notes to define project requirements and guide engineering activities.
Review layouts and design documents, ensuring alignment with technical standards and compliance with IEC/IS/IEEE guidelines.
Tender and Bid Management: Support the preparation and management of tender documents, conduct pre-bid meetings, and address vendor queries.
Prepare Technical Evaluation Reports (TER) for substation equipment and participate in the technical evaluation of bids, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Obtain necessary documentation from bidders, coordinate revisions, and finalize documents in a timely manner to meet project timelines.
Cost Estimation and Plot Development: Prepare detailed cost estimations for DPR and NDPR projects, including plot development for land finalization on upcoming substation projects.
Contribute to cost estimation for equipment and materials, supporting accurate budgeting for projects.
Vendor Coordination and Post-Order Engineering: Facilitate vendor discussions, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications throughout the pre- and post-order stages.
Coordinate the review and approval of engineering drawings, supporting accurate as-built documentation and managing the iterative review process to prevent delays.
Inspection, FAT, and Compliance: Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at OEM facilities, review test reports, and issue technical clearances to facilitate equipment dispatch.
Oversee inspection processes, providing technical clearances for Manufacturing Dispatch Clearance Certificates (MDCC) and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage the technical and compliance aspects of project closures, ensuring documentation aligns with requirements for 220kV GIS, 33kV GIS, relay panels, and auxiliary systems.
Project Coordination and MIS Reporting: Provide ongoing project support by managing documentation, tracking project progress, and resolving site or vendor issues.
Prepare and maintain monthly MIS reports for the engineering department, coordinating with package owners to ensure timely data submissions for management review.
Refurbishment, System Augmentation, and Safety Systems: Oversee the engineering and augmentation of existing systems, managing refurbishment projects and ensuring seamless integration of new equipment in existing infrastructure.
Handle the design and compliance of fire-fighting and earthing systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards and project specifications.
Process Improvement and Departmental Support: Prepare process documentation to support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain training records to enhance department efficiency.
Facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives, administrative support, and reporting documentation to drive departmental efficiency.
