Summary

looking for a hands on Engineering Manager to lead the SmartIQ Engineering team. Focused on the SmartIQ global SaaS platform, the Engineering Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of highly skilled engineering staff while ensuring that company objectives and goals are met.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Head of Product, SmartIQ.

The responsibilities of the role include:

Technology Leadership

Be responsible for delivering a platform that delights customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt
Foster a supportive environment that facilitates collaborative teamwork, professional development and encourages initiative, enthusiasm, cross-team cooperation and high-quality output
Contribute to setting the technological roadmap and clearly and concisely communicate goals, tasks and other organisational needs to your team.
Be an active participant in global release planning, security reviews and compliance activities such as audits.
Model operational excellence, owning your team’s operations including code quality, code reviews, automated testing and security.
Lead a team of engineers at various stages of their career, actively investing in their growth and development.
Recruit, interview, hire and train new engineering staff
Team Contribution

Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices and automated test strategies
Have a passion for continuous improvement
Be an active participant in a fortnightly sprint cycle
Deepen your experience in the technologies used by the team
Comply with company policies and procedures

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of engineers primarily based in the Canberra region but with global impact. You'll be part of the growing SmartIQ team, executing the technology roadmap and delivering value to our customers through innovative improvements to our product. You'll work closely with our design and product management teams to influence the direction of the product and plan the steps to get there.

Must have skills/experience:

Experience is leading an engineering team in a technical capacity
Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
Operational experience with teams responsible for building SaaS solutions
Strong organizational and communication skills
Advantageous skills/experience:

Employee performance and growth management
Continuous development and continuous delivery
Experience in Microsoft development tools, Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code
C#
NET Core MVC or ASP.NET MVC
Knowledge and experience in the SmartIQ product range or similar no code/ low code platform
Azure DevOps/Git
Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
