Job Description
The School for Young Performers is looking for a part-time English Literature and History teacher for a student in Marylebone, London. The educator will work 7 to 8 hours/week in a fluid one-on-one classroom construct for the 2026-2026 school year. The educator is expected to be able to teach English Literature (Grades 8-10, American/British curriculum) and London/European History (focus on 19th-21st century) with breadth, depth, and creativity. Hours are day-time, thus this is not an after-school position. As the goal is for 1:1 instruction, only local candidates open to in-person teaching will be considered. Do NOT apply if you live more than a 60-min drive/commute. There is the potential for further work for the right candidate. Preference for teachers with experience utilizing American curricula and working with students with dyslexia. Start date is Sept 4, 2026.
Ideal candidates must have the following:
- A MINIMUM of 5 years experience teaching English Literature and History at an upper school, preferably in a private school setting, for Years 8-10 (Grades 7-9 for American schools)
-Experience with differentiation, especially for students with language-based differences
-Conscientious, creative, engaging, flexible, compassionate and professional
-Strong handle on keeping pace with curriculum, comfortable with creating lesson plans, assessments, projects and tests
-Experience working 1-on-1, small group classes or in homeschool constructs
-Ability to create interdisciplinary activities
