Job Summary:
The Grade 1 English Teacher is responsible for introducing young learners to the fundamentals of the English language, including phonics, vocabulary, sentence formation, basic grammar, reading comprehension, and writing. The teacher plays a vital role in developing a strong language foundation in an engaging, supportive, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver age-appropriate English lessons focused on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Introduce phonics, sight words, and foundational grammar through engaging and interactive activities.
Use visual aids, storytelling, rhymes, and hands-on activities to make learning enjoyable.
Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and builds confidence.
Prepare teaching materials, worksheets, and homework in alignment with the curriculum.
Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
Create displays and learning aids to enhance classroom appeal and effectiveness.
Encourage good behavior and social skills through classroom routines and consistent discipline.
Participate in school events, staff meetings, training sessions, and parent-teacher meetings.
Qualifications and Skills:
Graduate in English or any discipline with strong English proficiency.
B.Ed. or Diploma in Early Childhood Education (preferred).
Minimum 1–2 years of experience teaching young children (preferred).
Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Passion for teaching and engaging with young learners.
Creative, patient, and energetic with strong classroom management skills.
Familiarity with phonics-based learning methods and child-centric teaching approaches.
