Responsibilities
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation
The Environmental Scientist (ES) will perform program research, planning and development, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical and project management support services for both the Superfund and the Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) Branches of BCA
The ES will make use of general and specific knowledge, skills and abilities with field sampling equipment and technologies
Both branches will rely on the ES's strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with other BCA staff, other agencies, the regulated community, private property owners, stakeholders, and the public
This position involves making consistent, defensible, and timely decisions using sound judgement skills
This ES will review remedial design plans and oversee remedial actions at various sites throughout Nevada
This position also functions as data management and database support

The Position
