Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We are looking for a technically skilled, collaborative eResearch Consultant to support researchers in harnessing high-performance computing (HPC), advanced data tools, and emerging digital research technologies.

As our eResearch Consultant, you will play a key role in enabling UC’s research strategy by:

Engineering, optimising and supporting the UC Research Compute Hub (RCH) and other eResearch platforms
Providing expert guidance on HPC, research data management, cloud and virtualisation technologies
Working alongside researchers to understand their needs and design solutions that advance their current and future projects
Developing and operating research-focused IT systems, ensuring high reliability, usability and innovation
Delivering training, resources, and tailored support to build digital research capability across UC
Staying ahead of rapidly evolving research technologies and sharing knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will have 5+ years’ experience in research computing, HPC, or scientific/academic IT environments as well as:

Strong system administration skills (Linux/Unix/Windows)
Experience with virtualisation, cloud platforms and research-focused technologies
Ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and excellent problem-solving ability
Commitment to UC values and comfort engaging with tikanga and te reo Māori
Knowledge of distributed computing, research programming, or research applications (desirable)
An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
A postgraduate qualification in computing or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience supporting compute-intensive research.
