The City of Burnside is seeking a highly organised and professional Executive Assistant to provide high‑level executive and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer, Mayor and Councillors.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Executive Assistant plays a central role in supporting executive leadership and Council members to deliver effective governance and organisational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-level executive and business support to the CEO, Mayor and Councillors
Manage diaries, correspondence, travel arrangements and competing priorities
Prepare and coordinate briefings, reports, presentations and research material
Key point of contact between the CEO, Mayor, Council Members and Executive team
Coordinate civic, ceremonial and official functions, including citizenship ceremonies
Manage sensitive and confidential matters with diplomacy and sound judgement
Build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders, including other levels of government
Monitor budgets for the Office of the CEO and Council Members operating within delegated financial limits
Ensure compliance with Council policies, governance requirements and legislative obligations
Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes and executive support practices.
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring previous experience in a similar role in a large or complex organisation. Experience working in a political or local government environment and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded. You are an organised, proactive professional who thrives in a fast paced executive environment and takes pride in delivering high quality support. You are a confident communicator with strong computer skills and exercise good judgement in various situations. We are looking for a person who can bring energy to the team, develop positive working relationships and are community minded. You are flexible as required to work at after-hours workshops, meetings and Council events.
The position is offered as a permanent, full-time contract and is classified at Level 5 under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023. You will be required to undertake a National Police Check and have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.
