This is your chance to craft innovative menus for HALO Bar|Bistro, Seven Paintings, Wine Wars, and many more exciting in-house events, bringing your culinary vision to life. This position is a permanent full-time salaried position that pays up to $80,000 per year, and a bonus of up to 10% of your salary!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB
The Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is seeking a passionate and innovative Executive Sous Chef to bring creativity and leadership to our culinary team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you'll blend artistry with execution, ensuring top-tier dining experiences while managing operations, budgets, and a talented kitchen brigade. What You’ll Be Doing:
Run the Show: Lead kitchen shifts, oversee food prep, and ensure everything meets top-notch standards—quality, flavor, and presentation.
Keeping It All in Check: Maintain food safety, sanitation, and compliance with all federal, provincial, and municipal health regulations (OHSA, AAF, AHS).
Create Culinary Magic: Work alongside the Executive Chef to develop new creative recipes, custom menus, and stunning food displays that wow guests and clients while embracing our Indigenous brand value through incorporating locally sourced ingredients into every dish.
Inspire & Lead Your Team: Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff by being an effective communicator. Foster a culture of collaboration, recognition, and empowerment through leading by example and Choosing to Have Fun.
Manage the Numbers: Handle inventory, ordering, payroll, and food costs while keeping an eye on budgets and financial goals.
Guest Experience First: Engage with guests, gather feedback, and ensure every dish that leaves the kitchen is so unforgettable that we Turn Our Guests Into Fanatics.
Adapt Under Pressure: Stay cool, make quick decisions, and be the rock your team needs—even when the heat is on!

Must be able to oversee daily kitchen operations in the Executive Chef’s absence.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 5 years’ experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
OR
2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years’ experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional.

Previous experience in a 4-Diamond/Luxury Brand Hotel with banquets and multi-outlet experience as a Sous Chef or higher is considered an asset.
Inter Provincial Red Seal Certification REQUIRED.
