Job Summary:
The Exercise Therapist will design and deliver physical activity programs and services aimed at improving health and promoting heart wellness. These include workshops, personal coaching, physical activity events and classes, partnership building, and research into innovative strategies to enhance physical activity levels in the community. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in public health, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or physical education who are passionate about health education and physical activity. The successful candidate will demonstrate problem-solving abilities and thrive in both independent and team settings. Heart Niagara is committed to addressing current demands for heart health information, programs, and services tailored to adolescents, educators, and families.
As a member of Heart Niagara, the successful candidate will efficiently utilize office processes to support the organization.
This position requires some flexibility in hours and availability, as it will include daytime and potentially evening hours to meet program demands. This position will be completed 100% in-person.
Responsibilities:
o Deliver HeartCORE programming and support bike rodeo initiatives.
o Assist in creating and maintaining a schedule for program and service development.
o Promote programs and recruit participants through outreach and engagement activities.
o Develop and distribute communication and promotional materials for key stakeholders.
o Create content, including blog posts, social media updates, and web articles, to enhance program visibility and engagement.
o Measure and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of programs and services.
o Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals.
Performance requirements:
o Strong knowledge of physical activity principles and their application to health promotion.
o Effective communication skills for engaging diverse audiences, including adolescents, families, and educators.
o Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
o A collaborative mindset for partnership-building and teamwork.
o Proficiency in using technology for program promotion and evaluation.
Qualifications
Candidates will have between 0 – 2 years of experience in physical activity programming
Candidates should have a solid understanding of health education and promotion
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
Have a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (some workdays will be scheduled at secondary sites)
Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
Current CPR/AED certification (successful candidates will be recertified by Heart Niagara)

At work, people use digital technology skills to input, access, analyze, organize, create, and communicate information and ideas using computers, software, point-of-sale equipment, email, podcasts, web applications, smartphones, and other digital devices.
Leadership - Leadership refers to several skills, including communication, relationship building, the ability to delegate, and traits such as honesty. At work, leadership skills are required when working in a team, demonstrating initiative, and taking responsibility for the completion of tasks that require multiple employees.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
