Position Summary
The UIC College of Medicine is seeking responsible, detail-oriented individuals to serve as Extra Help Office Support Assistant (Proctors) for Final Block Exams and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) Exams. Proctors will work under the supervision of the Testing Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring a smooth and secure testing experience for our medical students. Occasional general office support for the Dean's Office may also be requested. The role is expected to be 100% in-person.
Duties & Responsibilities
Communicate availability to the Testing Specialist in a timely and professional manner. Notify the Testing Specialist
promptly if unable to proctor an exam after committing to a date.
Prepare exam rooms for up to 180 students. Greet and check in students on exam days.
Transport testing materials and supplies (up to 25 pounds) to and from exam rooms.
Ensure all testing materials (e.g., exam materials, exam rosters, incident reports and other) are accounted for and secure.
Provide assistance (without compromising exam integrity) in case of questions or issues during the exam.
Monitor students during examinations while actively moving around the room as needed.
Maintain a quiet and distraction-free testing environment. Sit quietly in the exam room for 3 to 6 hours, as required.
Maintain accurate documentation on exam days to ensure clear communication with the exam coordinator.
Communicate any major technical issues to the Testing Specialist or COM IR staff.
Break down exam rooms and return materials to storage after exams.
Performs other related duties.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or combination totaling six (6) months from the categories below:
College coursework in any curriculum as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
15 semester hours equals six (6) months
Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including use of computer systems.
