Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager in Child and Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health & Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) Specialized Services, this advanced Family Counsellor position serves adolescents, young adults (16-2+) and the families who present with complex and co-occurring mental health disorders and associated developmental, cognitive, behavioral and emotional issues. The position supports assessment and treatment for their successful transition in adulthood and/or case management, and/or consultation, and/or community resourcing. The position demands both clinical and systems expertise. As a member of a team and within the context of family-centered care, the Family Counsellor completes assessments, provides evidence-based treatments, facilitates the integration of services to provide optimal client service, advocates on behalf of clients, and assists with securing appropriate community resources and navigating systems. Participation in program development and evaluation is required. Expectations may include supervision of students. The candidate must be knowledgeable about community resources and have strong assessment and therapy skills and the proven ability to provide evidence-based episodic treatment. The position includes providing treatment to groups and covering walk-in service. The position is assigned to the Emerging Adult Treatment Clinic but may be assigned to another service within Specialized Services according to client and operational needs.
Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Supervised training and 3-5 years independent experience in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment with the Emerging Adult and/or Adult population (16-2+. Authorized to perform Psychosocial Intervention required. Current knowledge and recent experience delivering of a range of clinical intervention modalities including individual, family therapy, group intervention, single-session and brief therapies is required. Recent experience providing Mental Health and Concurrent Disorder informed treatment in Mental Health settings in DSM-V framework required. Experience working with Trauma required. DBT Training required. Experience providing Group therapeutic intervention including DBT and other modalities. Demonstrated Knowledge of DSM V and experience providing diagnoses required. Knowledge of community resources required. Ability to facilitate referrals and connect families to appropriate resources required. Experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and related behavioural, cognitive and social issues required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Strong assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment skills required. Flexibility to respond and contribute to developing program needs required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Level 1&2 training in CPS preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners preferred. Trauma-informed training preferred. Family Therapy training and experience preferred. Connect Care trained preferred. Single-session and/or Solution-focused experience preferred. DBT training and experience preferred. Brain Story Certified preferred. Proven ability to work independently and meet necessary deadlines. Experience in program planning, evaluation and/or research preferred.
