Job Description
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Fashion Design Lead to join our team at Universal Orlando. As a key member of our Wardrobe department, you will be responsible for supporting management in directing and coordinating activities of the department and employees.
As a Fashion Design Lead, your primary objective will be to set service examples and ensure that team members follow required UO service standards. You will also monitor team members' production, assign lunches and breaks, and make complex alterations on wardrobe pieces for all venues.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will create original pieces for projects and manufacture basic accessories. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all wardrobe items meet the highest standards of quality and design.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform general alterations and repairs on existing wardrobe used in all venues, including hand sewing or sewing machine work (e.g., snap repair, hem repair, string, buttons and fabric tears). Install RFID chips in wardrobe pieces.
• Provide work direction to team members, assign lunches and break times, and monitor compliance of current Company and department policies and procedures. Communicate performance, behavior standards, and expectations; provide feedback for recognition and performance improvement.
• Fits and alters newly fabricated and purchased wardrobe and complex alterations to existing wardrobe (e.g., conversion to maternity clothing). Assist Guests with Wardrobe needs.
• Cut wardrobe pieces from patterns, with knowledge of grain, knap and fabric saving techniques.
• Assist Wardrobe Fabricators with their assignments as needed, assist in cleanliness and organization of the work areas, and utilize Garment Inventory System to perform accurate logging of daily work product.
• Assist with training new and current employees, assign who will provide daily training, and inform employees of current and new company policies and procedures.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, One to three years experience in advance garment construction, machine stitching, and alterations preferred.
A minimum of 0-1 Year of experience is required. Employed by UO for a minimum of +0 days is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and experience working on industrial sewing machine, walking foot machines, sergers, and pressing equipment, demonstrated ability in pattern making and draping required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
