Job Description
fashion designer's job is to create innovative and visually appealing fashion products. They do this by: Researching trends Studying trends in fabrics, colors, prints, and shapes to anticipate what will appeal to consumers Creating designs Using computer-aided design (CAD) software or by hand, fashion designers create sketches and designs for their collections Selecting materials Fashion designers visit trade shows and manufacturers to source fabrics, trims, embellishments, and fastenings Developing prototypes Working with other designers to create prototype designs Presenting designs Fashion designers present their designs to clients, retailers, or senior designers Overseeing production Fashion designers oversee the final production of their designs, including quality checks Managing business activities If self-employed, fashion designers may manage marketing, finances, and other business activities Fashion designers may also: Create mood boards, Plan and develop fashion ranges, Work with models to try out designs, Adapt existing designs for mass production, and Negotiate with customers and supplier
