We’re looking for someone versatile that can design across categories mens, womens and kids.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Timely delivery of design briefs against set timelines
2. You work cross functionally within the karigars, sewing teams and collaborate with Sourcing, Merchandising, Raw Materials Development, Category and Design Operations.
3. Staying relevant by being aware of what’s trending in fashion, sports and swimming in specific. You will have clear reference points in terms of understanding product storytelling, design and construction.
4. Strong knowledge of cut ‘n sew construction and strong understanding of sewing techniques and applications. You understand human form, proficiency in how to drape, create and conceptualise during your design process.
5. Contribute in all aspects of design: technical, sketching, presentations, fittings and brainstorming functional solutions for your product line
6. Developing sketches and creating detailed technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software for textile and clothing designs.
7. Working with the production team to ensure that designs and fabrics can be produced efficiently and within budget. Present and advise on style development status at key product meetings; drive conversations to align on style, cost, and development goals
8. Maintaining a strong understanding of the textile and fashion industry including designing for E-Commerce, D2C & B2B platforms + Retail and keeping upto-date with industry developments and trends.
+. Studying how the designs developed are performing on all platforms + in retail. Knowing how to design based on the target audience & studying their sensibilities. Action feedback for continual innovation of product.
10. You have an extreme sharp attention to detail of product/process so that we build beautiful functional apparel. You have a clear understanding of function and how to embed style, beauty and fashion where needed. Being very conscious & sensitive of making sure that you craft patterns that cater to all irrespective of size, shape & form.
11. Build vendor & cross-functional relationships through effective email correspondence and meetings.
Skills:
• Graduate / Post Graduate degree in Fashion Design / Apparel design from a recognised university or extensive experience instead
• You have at least 4-5 years of relevant experience both in fashion & swimwear + sportswear
• You have a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Knowledge and experience in all product classes (Swimwear & Sportswear)
• Ability to work well in a team & under pressure with deadlines & overlapping seasons
• Passion for creating unique and high-quality clothing, designs and fabrics
• Experience working with artisans and specialisation in swimming garments would be highly advantageous but not compulsory.
• Well-developed organisational and time management skills
• Strong understanding of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements; including close working relationship with design, raw materials, finished goods sourcing, quality assurance and merchandising.
• Have an informed point of view and be an expert on silhouette, fabric, trim, technology, trends, research, and product usage experience.
