Fashion Designer - Womenswear

Monk & Mei (www.monkandmei.com) is looking for a designer based out of Mumbai.

Role- Designer to build product line as well as grow business It is important that candidate has worked in luxury pret womenswear focused on ethnics like kurta sets, lehengas preferably at price point of INR 8000 upwards etc. Those Fashion Designer who are keen to grow the business and strengthen organization will be highly preferred. We prefer designers who are open to be all rounders and contribute to business development.

Responsibilities:

 Creating and developing original design ideas, concepts, embroideries, fabrications,

seasonal themes and ideas, management of suppliers and fabric sourcing till final styling

 Collaborate with our senior leadership on direction for the forthcoming season

 Conducting market research to identify new trends, fabrics and techniques, and seeking design

inspiration.

 Developing innovative and original designs and concepts, techniques, applications and ideas

 Sourcing of relevant fabrics, embroideries and suppliers to meet the design requirements

 Creating and developing mood boards and original inspiration themes for seasonal collection

 Assisting in and organising photoshoots and runways shows (optional)

 Management of suppliers and budgets for atelier requirements

 Provide support in presenting the collection at all stages to senior management

 Ensure critical path deadlines are maintained

 Grow business and showcase products on several platforms

 Develop and maintain Standard Operating procedure which will help grow business and make fashion business related operations robust

The Ideal Candidate - Fashion Designer Requirements:

 Bachelors degree in design or college degree in fashion design from NIF, Pearl or similar colleges

 3+ years design experience.

 Working full time with a Haute Couture designer for womens wear or pret brands like Bunaai, Aacho, Jaypore, FabIndia, Nicobar, Shop MulMul or assistant designers from Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahitian, Anita Dongre, Ritu Kumar etc

 Good connects with existing vendors in dyeing, embroidery, fabric sourcing, dupatta/stole

making, accessory work preferably in Lucknow, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai

 Excellent design and conceptual skills.

 Excellent sense of style and color.

 Ability to present to senior management team

 Strong hand sketching abilities

 Strong Photoshop, Illustrator skills and technical drawing

 Strong attention to detail and process oriented

 Availability to travel for research and product development.

 Works well under pressure

 Highly organized and ability to prioritize workload

 Has developed a collection for other designer labels on freelance basis, preferably

 Mandatory- Understanding of commercially selling designs in price range of INR 8,000 to 12,000

Remunerations: Salaries for full time are market competitive starting INR 35,000. There are special incentives for all round performers.
