Job description, work day and responsibilities
What you’ll do:
Process accounts payable and receivable, including drafting and sending invoices and chasing outstanding payments
Match incoming payments with subscription records to ensure accurate revenue tracking
Support monthly bank reconciliations and help keep banking records up to date
Assist with VAT return preparation and submission
Maintain and update accrual and prepayment schedules
Comfortable communicating with internal teams and external stakeholders'
Help manage the contractor payment process including tracking timesheets and chasing late submissions
Provide administrative support for quarterly Innovate UK claims
Add new joiners to the payroll system and assist with basic payroll tasks
Maintain and update spreadsheets used for financial tracking and reporting
Support general finance admin work as needed
What you’ll bring:
A strong academic background in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (1st class or high 2:1 degree preferred) OR you have experience within a similar role in a fast growing organisation
Proficiency with spreadsheets (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets), including basic formulas and data organisation
Understanding of core financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
Eagerness to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and learn new systems (QuickBooks experience is a plus, but not required)
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow up proactively with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical work
Comfortable managing routine finance tasks and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks
