We’re looking for a Finance leader to drive financial sustainability, strong governance, and operational excellence across our organisation.


WHAT YOU’LL DO – YOUR PURPOSE


You will play a vital role in ensuring Playgroup NSW is financially strong, well‑governed, and positioned for long‑term success. Reporting with the CEO, you will oversee core financial operations, support strategic planning, ensure compliance, and contribute to organisation‑wide risk and data management.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Operations: Oversee daily AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations and transactions. Deliver accurate monthly/annual reporting, cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting and system optimisation.
Strategy & Financial Management: Provide financial insights and modelling to the CEO, Leadership Team and Board. Lead long‑term financial sustainability, scenario planning and audit readiness.
Risk & Compliance: Manage the Risk Register, Compliance Calendar and policy governance. Coordinate insurance, contract and legal workflows, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Data, Systems & Digital Support: Support digital platforms, data governance and cybersecurity. Assist with IT vendor management, CRM oversight and performance/data quality monitoring.
Financial Partnering: Provide financial advice to program and operational teams, including modelling, budgeting and grant acquittals. Strengthen financial controls and organisational efficiency.
People Leadership: Build a capable, values‑aligned team through coaching, development and strong cultural leadership.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or similar, plus CA/CPA qualification.
Demonstrated experience leading finance operations, reporting, budgeting and compliance.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and not‑for‑profit sector requirements.
Experience with Xero, Microsoft 365, financial modelling and grant/funding acquittals.
Strong skills in risk management, controls, and compliance frameworks.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A collaborative, proactive approach aligned with Playgroup NSW’s values.
Experience leading teams and supporting organisational change
A Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Experience working in not-for-profit sector.
