About Accurate Indigenous Managers & Advisors (AIMA)
Accurate Indigenous Managers & Advisors (AIMA) is a 100% Indigenous-owned consulting firm that supports First
Nations communities and organizations through financial administration, governance support, human resources,
operational systems, and capacity development. We work alongside communities to build practical, respectful,
and sustainable systems that support long-term success.
Position Summary
AIMA is seeking a Finance & Nation Support Advisor to support financial operations, audit preparation, reporting,
and community-based financial administration work.
This role is ideal for someone with solid finance or accounting experience who understands the realities First
Nations communities face, including funding restrictions, reporting pressures, community priorities, and the need
for practical, relationship-based support. The role is intended as a strong mid-level position rather than a senior
leadership post, which better matches the compensation range and the support-focused nature of the work. The
senior version of this role emphasized deep ISC/INAC funding, governance, and leadership responsibilities, while
your current need is a more hands-on support role.
Key Responsibilities
• Support day-to-day financial administration, file organization, and documentation management
• Assist with audit preparation, reconciliations, and reporting support
• Work with First Nation staff, administrators, and AIMA team members to improve financial processes
• Assist with tracking funding agreements and reporting requirements
• Help organize records related to ISC/INAC and other funded programs
• Support budgeting, internal reporting, and financial workflow improvements
• Assist with payroll-related financial documentation and coordination
• Help create practical templates, tools, and trackers for community and internal use
• Travel to First Nations communities as required to support projects and capacity building
Qualifications
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or financial administration
• Experience supporting audits, reporting, reconciliations, or year-end preparation
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage confidential financial information professionally
Strong Assets
• Experience working with First Nations communities, Indigenous organizations, or funded program
environments
• Familiarity with ISC/INAC funding agreements, reporting requirements, and how funding flows through
programs and community operations
• Understanding of challenges faced by First Nations communities, especially on-reserve operational
realities
• Experience working with leadership, administrators, or finance teams in community settings
• AFOA-related training or similar finance/community capacity experience is an asset
Why Join AIMA
• Work in an Indigenous-owned, community-centered organization
• Support meaningful projects that directly impact First Nations communities
• Gain broad experience across finance operations, reporting, audit support, and capacity building
• Opportunity to grow into a more senior advisory role over time
