Description
The Finance Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing a team of accountants within our Shared Service Center. This role involves managing daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and fostering a high-performing team environment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with extensive accounting experience and excellent interpersonal skills. To be fully successful in this position, this person will have excellent communication skills, good command over English, advanced Excel skills, a strong grasp of advanced accounting principles, a good understanding of a consolidation and reporting application, and excellent detail orientation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Team Management:
Lead and manage a team of 4-5 accountants, providing guidance and support
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
Accounting Operations:
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, accounts
payable/receivable and GST/VAT/tax compliance
Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes
Review and approve journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
Review and submission of weekly cash flow reporting
Ensure compliance with local GAAP/IFRS and internal policies
Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management
Audit and Compliance:
Work with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and information
Ensure adherence to internal controls and implement improvements as needed
Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies
Lead initiatives to optimize accounting procedures and systems
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team
Training and Development:
Develop and implement training programs for team members
Mentor accountants and support their professional growth
Promote a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
Education and Qualifications
3-4 year in professional accounting position in public or corporate accounting with team management
experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency/fluency of English language, spoken and written
Experience with dealing with international internal / external stakeholders
Needs to be flexible with working hours when required by the company
Experience in a shared service centre or large corporate environment is highly preferred
Experience using Exact and Planful software preferred
