About the role
Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Finance team. Reporting directly to our Financial Controller, this role will:
Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and other regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including QBCC regulations, PQC compliance, and tax legislation.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and forecasting.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making at all levels of the business.
Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, and external regulatory bodies.
Review and improve internal financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.
Provide tax planning and management, including developing tax strategies to optimize the group’s tax position and ensure compliance with all tax laws.
Play a key role in managing corporate tax returns and ensure timely submission.
Provide advice on tax implications of business transactions, including M&A, capital expenditures, and other significant events.
Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure the company maximizes available tax credits, deductions, and other opportunities.
Provide mentorship and guidance to other finance team members.
Play a key role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of McNab as we continue to expand and diversify our portfolio.
Monitor and report banking covenants, ensuring compliance and timely reporting to financial institutions
Coordinate the preparation of financial packs for tender submissions and other ad-hoc financial requests
About you
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CPA or CA qualification.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a financial accounting role, with a blend of public practice and industry experience, ideally in construction or related sectors.
Proven experience with Australian Accounting Standards, tax compliance, financial reporting, and tax planning.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear, concise manner.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong knowledge of tax laws and strategies, including corporate tax management
