THE OPPORTUNITY:

Ambipar Response is currently seeking a Fleet and Equipment Manager based out of the Edmonton area.


The Fleet and Equipment Manager is responsible for leading fleet and equipment operations across Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan. This role is essential in ensuring adherence to Federal (Transport Canada) and Provincial regulations while driving operational safety, reliability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of regional transportation legislation, experience managing distributed fleets and specialized equipment, and a strong safety-first mindset.


WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL CONSIST OF:


Fleet & Equipment Operations:

Manage the full lifecycle of vehicles and equipment, including procurement, maintenance, tracking, and disposal.
Oversee equipment inventory systems to ensure accuracy and operational readiness.
Support field teams by ensuring timely access to vehicles and equipment.
Coordinate maintenance schedules and repairs for all fleet assets.
Ensure compliance and readiness of equipment used in environmental and emergency response scenarios.
Liaise with vendors and service providers for procurement and servicing.
Monitor and manage equipment certifications, inspections, and calibrations.
Conduct regular audits and maintain accurate operational records.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all Transport Canada, Alberta Transportation, BC Ministry of Transportation, and SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) regulations.
Maintain Pro-Rate accounts, vehicle registration, insurance, and interprovincial permits (IFTA, Carrier Profiles).
Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance.
Prepare for and lead transportation audits, ensuring complete documentation.
Ensure proper calibration for field equipment and re certifications as required

Safety & Training:

Lead incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
Deliver ongoing driver and operator training and conduct in-field compliance inspections.
Analyze fleet/equipment safety trends to drive continuous improvement.
Assist with regional safety meetings and field audits.
Develop and update instructional manuals (HSE, HR, Communications, Marketing).

Reporting & Administration:

Maintain comprehensive records of driver qualifications, vehicle/equipment maintenance, permits, and training.
Oversee onboarding and offboarding of drivers and operators.
Complete regular inventories of logbooks, fleet documents, and equipment records.
Generate compliance and performance reports using internal systems.

Representative Tasks:

Troubleshoot ELD and equipment tracking issues.
Review HOS violations, speed infractions, and unassigned drive time.
Manage insurance renewals and associated documentation.
Coordinate inspections, repairs, and pre-trip validations.
Compile performance and safety data for senior management.
Support internal and external audits as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in business, transportation, logistics, or equivalent professional experience.
3–5 years of fleet and equipment management experience within Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.
Strong working knowledge of Transport Canada and Provincial transportation laws.
Experience with Pro-Rate systems, insurance, registration, and compliance documentation.
Proficiency in Geo-Tab or equivalent fleet management platforms.
Experience managing equipment for environmental or emergency response is an asset.
Familiarity with EZ Office or an equipment tracking program (Ambipar equipment tracking) and multi-site inventory management.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license preferred.
Knowledge of hazardous materials and dangerous goods regulations is an asset.
